Paola Herrera Silva understands the immigrant experience because she has lived it. She was born in Michoacán, Mexico, and came to the United States at age 16. Leaving home and family was difficult, but it gave her a deep sense of empathy for immigrant families starting over in a new place.

Paola worked for many years in agriculture, from fields in California to farms in Washington. She later became a crew supervisor, where she saw how language barriers and lack of information made life harder for workers. These experiences motivated her to support others facing similar challenges.

Paola believes in the power of community and mutual support. In 2023, she helped start Mujeres en Acción, a group that brings Latina women together to learn, share, and support one another. She listens closely, leads with compassion, and connects families with resources and hope. Paola Herrera Silva is the Community Engagement Coordinator and Promotora at the Walla Walla Immigrant Rights Coalition.
